A proposed 1% sales tax specifically aimed at generating revenue for school facility and mental health needs in McLean County. This sales tax can bring in a potential $6.6 million a year annually to District 87.
What can funds from the CSFT be used for?
Funds from the CSFT can be used for Facility Repairs, Safety & Security Improvements, Mental Health Professionals, School Resource Officers, Technology Infrastructure, Paying off facility debt and reducing property taxes.
Funds may NOT be used for salaries, text books, buses, operational costs.
Who pays the CSFT?
All residents of McLean County pay the 1% tax as well as visitors who shop or dine in McLean County.

Nearly 60% of Illinois counties have already approved the County School Facilities Sales Tax to help fund their schools and shift funding away from reliance on property taxes.
Counties surrounding McLean County have already adopted the CSFT, including Sangamon, Peoria, Champaign and Macon counties. Visitors to these counties are already helping fund their schools and if passed in McLean County our schools would also be eligible to be funded by the CSFT.
