Up next in our D87 retiree recognition is Mary Pat Brady from BHS! Mary Pat has been part of the D87 family for the past 38 years, wow!đź‘Ź For the last 19 years Mrs. Brady has been teaching health to freshmen at BHS, before moving to BHS she taught PE at Oakland, Lincoln (now the site of the Lincoln Leisure Center), Centennial (the current location of BJHS), and Irving! Mary Pat also was a lead teacher in the Driver Education Department as well as a volleyball coach (BHS & BJHS) and bowling coach (BHS).

Mary Pat’s journey into education started with her family of educators (which includes teachers, professors, athletic directors, school board members, and coaches)- it was not surprising that she followed along in her family’s footsteps! Some milestones in her career include completing her Master’s Degree, working towards her doctorate, and helping design a new driver’s ed curriculum for the State of Illinois. Her journey is highlighted by coaching, organizing student activities, and creating memorable experiences around parades, homecomings, proms, and sporting events.

One of her favorite things about working in D87 is all the amazing, talented, and caring colleagues she has worked with through the years in the Health, PE, and Driver Education Departments, shares Mary Pat, “D87 simply has the best teachers” (we concur Mary Pat!).

What’s next for Mary Pat Brady? With all the time she will now have on her hands, she plans on visiting with her family in Indianapolis and cuddling her 1st grandchild,  born this past January. Traveling, playing golf and pickleball, and spending time with friends and family are also activities that will be on her agenda!

Fun Facts: Mary Pat is a certified scuba diver and windsurfer!

Piece of advice to share: Life is not a dress rehearsal- this is it- do your best always and in everything!

🎊Congratulations on your retirement Mary Pat and thank you for your 38 years of service to District 87!
