Erin O’Grady is thrilled to return to District 87 as the Associate Director of Student Services! After teaching in D87 for 17 years, Erin stepped into a principal role in Unit 5. Now, she’s excited to reconnect with her D87 roots, work alongside staff in a new capacity, and continue supporting the community she loves.
This year, Erin looks forward to building relationships within the D87 community and making a meaningful impact through her new role.
At home, Erin lives in Hudson with her husband and daughter. She has been enjoying a fun-filled summer with pool days/nights and spending time with her growing family of pets—including three chickens and a bunny that joined the crew this summer!

🩺 Welcome to District 87, Monique Goldman!
Monique Goldman is excited to join BJHS as the new school nurse! Previously an Ortho/Neuro nurse at OSF Saint Joseph Hospital, Monique is transitioning into her role at BJHS to get back to working with children while also enjoying a schedule that allows her to spend more time with her own two boys, ages 9 and 5.
This year, Monique is looking forward to connecting with the students at BJHS and becoming someone they feel comfortable turning to for care and support.
Outside of work, Monique loves family outings to the zoo and museums and cherishes time spent with her boys and loved ones.

Macy Byer is joining the BHS team as a Special Education Teacher! After graduating from Illinois State University in December 2024 with a degree in Special Education—while also competing as a member of the Women’s Track Team at ISU—Macy is ready to jump into her new role! Her passion for education stems from a family filled with educators, and she’s inspired to make a positive impact on the lives of her students.
Macy previously student-taught at BJHS, where she developed strong connections with both the staff and students, leaving her eager to return to District 87. This year, Macy is most excited to meet her students, build positive relationships, and continue growing as an educator.
In her free time, Macy loves to spend time with her family and friends, be outdoors, coach track, and relax at home.

We’re excited to introduce Natalie Shumaker, our new Director of Curriculum and Development! Natalie has an extensive background in education, with experience as a Special Education Administrator, Assistant Principal, and Special Education Teacher! She’s excited to join our D87 family, appreciating the strong sense of community and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues to support students and create inclusive systems that benefit all learners.
😀Some fun facts about Natalie- she lives in Hudson with her husband of 15 years, John, their three kids, ages 14, 11, and 6, and their two dogs. Outside of work, Natalie enjoys cheering on her kids in their activities, running, spending time with family and friends, and finding humor in everyday moments.
