🎉🇫🇷 Bon Mardi Gras from BHS! 🇫🇷🎉 Taking a delightful dive into French culture, our French 2 and 3 classes at BHS dived into Mardi Gras festivities yesterday! Both classes explored the vibrant history of the yummy King Cake and the symbolism behind the theme colors. 🎭🍰 Students had a fun and educational day exploring this tradition. 💘🎉BJHS Valentine's Day fun at Roundtables! 🎉💘 Aligning with the 7 Mindsets theme, Ms. Coleman's roundtable put a spotlight on self-love and appreciation. They crafted Valentine's Day boxes, with each student sharing a card or treat with their roundtable family – spreading smiles all around. 💌🍭 Then the roundtables of Mr. Jones and Ms. Knarr added an extra dose of fun with a fun game of Valentine's Day Bingo! 💖💌 Spreading love across the country this Valentine's Day! 💌💖 Mrs. Heinonen's first-grade class at Oakland is connecting with students nationwide in their Valentine's Exchange! They mailed Valentines and letters about our D87 school & community to 22 schools around the country. With every Valentine and letter they receive back, they are learning about different schools and communities - and now they have a wish list of places to visit! 🗺️😊 📭 So far they received 16 out of 22 Valentines! Just 6 more to complete their Valentine's collection. Mrs. Dobson's and Mrs. Masching's fourth-graders at Bent have been journeying through large events in American history via the ARC framework! 📚 Their latest adventure: the Cold War and the US participation in the Berlin Airlift. Students enjoyed reading Tom Brokaw's "Christmas from Heaven" a story about Lt. Halvorson's heartwarming mission to drop chocolates to West Berlin's children. 🍫✈️ Students then made handkerchief parachutes and recreated the candy drop at school, because learning history is sweetest when it's hands-on! #HistoricalFictionARC #TimeTravel #ChocolateDropRecreation #WeAreD87 Viaje en el tiempo, ¿se animan? In Ms. Willyard's and Mrs. Butt's American History classes, students took a fun ride back to the 1950s for pop culture day! 🕰️🎉 Students had "a ball" playing with tops, jump ropes, paper dolls and watching episodes of the very funny "I Love Lucy", 📺 as they explored the historical artifacts from the BHS Social Studies Artifact Collection. Our Raiders were impressed with how fun the simple yet "old" toys of the 50's really are!
