Yesterday, some D87 students who participate in the One-way Dual Language Programs laughed, connected, and shared stories with Pura Belpré award winning author, Pablo Cartaya! The morning started off with students from BJHS learning the craft of writing through a writer's workshop event. The students enjoyed lunch with Pablo before he headed over to Bent Elementary to share cuentos bilingues with the students there. Thank you to Dr. Robyn Seglem from Illinois State University for organizing the event! If you are interested in hearing his stories, you can join Pablo at the Normal Theater tonight (Thursday) at 7pm! Ayer, algunos estudiantes del D87 que participan en los Programas de Lenguaje Dual Unidireccional rieron, se conectaron, y compartieron cuentos con un autor ganador del premio Pura Belpré, Pablo Cartaya. Principal Freeman traveled in a time machine and got trapped in the disco decade. 🕶️👖 Throughout the week, students earned "Flower Power Tickets" to bring him back! 🎉 They succeeded, capping it off with an all-school assembly and fun dress-up days in groovy outfits.
