D87 is well into the awards season and we're so excited to see our students being recognized for their hard work! BHS held senior awards night, and a signing day ceremony while BJHS held their awards night for all students- it's been a busy awards season for sure! Congrats to all our D87 students being recognized for their achievements! #WeAreD87 ¡D87 está en la temporada de premios y estamos muy emocionados de ver que nuestros estudiantes sean reconocidos por su arduo trabajo! Did you know that BJHS, the Illinois Art Station, and NCC Green partnered up to create a coloring page contest? The theme: Protecting our Earth! The winning designs received gift cards to the Illinois Art Station and will be covers for coloring books to be used during BJHS roundtables next year (all entries will be featured in the book- so everyone is a winner!). Congrats to Eliana Seckler (1st place), Oliver Cawthon (2nd Place), Tamea Phillips (3rd Place), and Maddy Corning (3rd Place) (not pictured)! Go Knights! ¿Sabía que BJHS, Illinois Art Station y NCC Green se asociaron para crear un concurso de páginas para colorear? El tema: ¡Protegiendo nuestra Tierra! The first annual D87 multicultural fair was a success! We were so excited to see all the different cultures represented in our community, learn some of their traditions, and even try some of the foods. It's always great to meet new people and learn about new cultures—and it's even better when you can do it in your own backyard! D87 is already looking forward to hosting the 2nd annual multicultural fair next year! ¡La primera Feria Multicultural anual D87 fue un éxito! Estábamos tan emocionados de ver todas las diferentes culturas representadas en nuestra comunidad, aprender algunas de sus tradiciones e incluso probar algunos de los alimentos. Siempre es genial conocer gente nueva y aprender sobre nuevas culturas, ¡y es incluso mejor cuando puedes hacerlo en tu propia casa! ¡D87 ya está ansioso por organizar la segunda Feria Multicultural anual el próximo año!

The Raiders’ Grand Tour 2023 was a huge success and memories of a lifetime were made as a group of 51 students and 11 faculty chaperones traveled to Paris and Barcelona with day trips to Versailles, Figueres, and Giorona. The students learned about languages, cultures, history, and art over their 8 days of travel- this will be one spring break that our Raiders will never forget! And a special shout-out to BHS teachers Monica Estabrook and Dr. Jessica Nicholas for organizing this awesome opportunity for our BHS students! El Grand Tour 2023 de los Raiders fue un gran éxito y se crearon recuerdos para toda la vida cuando un grupo de 51 estudiantes y 11 maestros viajaron a París y Barcelona con excursiones de un día a Versalles, Figueres y Giorona. Los estudiantes aprendieron sobre idiomas, culturas, historia y arte durante sus 8 días de viaje. ¡Estas serán unas vacaciones de primavera que nuestros Raiders nunca olvidarán! ¡Y un agradecimiento especial a las maestras de BHS Monica Estabrook y la Dra. Jessica Nicholas por organizar esta increíble oportunidad para nuestros estudiantes de BHS!

Our BHS Counselors & Family Facilitators have been busy celebrating students- first with an Ice Cream Day to celebrate students with 0 tardies & 0 unexcused absences and then FAFSA Bar Day, seniors who completed their FAFSA earned a candy bar! What better way to celebrate than with a tasty treat!
