🎉📚👑 Yesterday was a vowel-uable day in Mrs. Heinonen's first-grade class at Oakland – it was National Schwa Day! 📚🎉 The schwa is the superstar sound of English – that effortless "uhhh" in "banana" or the "ihhh" in "carrot" 🍌🥕, and it's everywhere! In true schwa style, the Owls wore their coziest pajamas (with two schwas, no less!) to celebrate 🛌. They dove into the world of schwa with "The Not So Lazy Schwa," brainstormed a list of schwa words, and created some schwa-esome Day crowns and "tunics" bedazzled with those very words 👑🎽.
